Inspected Noida International Airport, Developed by a Subsidiary of Swiss Company Zurich Airport International AG; Approximately 65-Member Delegation Present

Noida/Lucknow, October 6. The Yogi government’s policy of establishing Uttar Pradesh as a major hub for global investment and modern industrial development received another international dimension today when His Excellency Guy Bernard Parmelin, the President of Switzerland, arrived at the Noida International Airport in Jewar with an approximately 65-member delegation. This visit is considered highly significant in further strengthening the prospects of economic, technological, and aviation cooperation between Uttar Pradesh and Switzerland.

At the Noida International Airport, on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government, IT and Electronics Cabinet Minister Sunil Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of the Civil Aviation Department and IIDC Deepak Kumar, and Invest UP Chief Executive Officer Vijay Kiran Anand welcomed President Guy Bernard Parmelin and his delegation by draping them in the traditional ‘Angavastram’.

Global Partnerships Expanding Through the Yogi Government’s Investment Policy

The Yogi government has made better connectivity, modern infrastructure, and an investment-friendly environment the core foundation of its development policy. The Noida International Airport is a crucial part of this comprehensive vision. Being developed in Jewar, this airport has the potential to connect western Uttar Pradesh to global air networks while giving new momentum to industrial, commercial, and investment activities in the region. The Swiss President’s visit to Jewar Airport is particularly significant because the airport has been developed by a subsidiary of the Swiss company Zurich Airport International AG. This has opened up new avenues for cooperation between the two sides regarding this vital infrastructure project, built in Uttar Pradesh with Swiss technical expertise and investment.

Taking Stock of Modern Facilities

The visit began at the NIA office, where an airport-related presentation was given in the Avani Board Room. During this session, President Guy Bernard Parmelin also addressed the delegation. Following this, a lunch was organized in the courtyard of the airport premises amid the tunes of Indian music, and a group photograph was taken. Afterward, the delegation split into two groups. President Guy Bernard Parmelin, his wife, and selected officials went for a special inspection of the airside and the ATC tower. Meanwhile, the other members of the delegation conducted a detailed inspection of various airport facilities, including the terminal, security area, boarding gates, apron, and baggage reclaim. The delegation departed from the airport at around 2:00 PM.

Hopes for Cooperation in IT and Electronics Alongside Aviation

The approximately 65-member Swiss delegation included the President’s wife, the Swiss Ambassador, members of the National Council, State Secretaries, and around 40 industrialists. The presence of this delegation elevated the visit beyond a mere airport inspection, making it crucial from the perspective of potential economic and industrial cooperation. The investment promotion policies of the Uttar Pradesh government and its continuous efforts in the IT and electronics sector have created a favorable climate for global companies to invest in the state. Consequently, the Swiss President’s visit to Jewar could also strengthen future prospects for cooperation and investment in IT, electronics, technology, and related fields, in addition to aviation.
